The United Way efficiently raises and allocates funds to support a strong network of quality agencies and services; provides information, management and technical resources; identifies critical issues and unmet needs and builds collaborations with the public and private sectors to meet those needs. The United Way Volunteer Center supports the organization's mission to strengthen the community by promoting and increasing effective volunteer experiences throughout the St. Louis region.The United Way of Greater St. Louis Volunteer Center has met nationally-recognized standards as set forth by the Points of Light Foundation and the Hands-On Network. United Way is the host agency for BoardLinkStL.

FOCUS St. Louis is a regional, nonprofit, nonpartisan 501(c)(3) organization governed by a 30-member volunteer board of directors. It has a membership of more than 1,100 members from all 12 counties of the St. Louis region. The mission of the organization is to create a thriving, cooperative region by engaging citizens to participate in active leadership roles and to influence positive community change. FOCUS was created in 1996 through the merger of Confluence St. Louis and The Leadership Center of Greater St. Louis. Together, these organizations represent more tahn 30 years of experience in developing leaders and tackling a broad spectrum of community policy issues. The merger created an organization, unlike any other at the local or national level, that delivers a critical continuum of programs and initiatives.

Washington University strengthens the nonprofit sector through education and service. The University’s Nonprofit Management Program grants Master’s Degrees and Professional Certificates designed to prepare students to lead and administer nonprofit organizations, and responds to the sector’s need for continuing education. Organizations receive direct assistance from the Alliance for Building Capacity, the Taylor Community Consulting Project, the Skandalaris Center for Entrepreneurial Studies, the Gephardt Institute for Public Service, and a variety of internships and student projects. |

Nonprofit Management and Leadership Program (NPM&L) offers comprehensive education and training for students and individuals pursuing careers in the nonprofit sector, for professional staff, board members and other leaders of nonprofit and voluntary organizations and for public sector professionals. The Nonprofit Management & Leadership Program offers a graduate and undergraduate academic program, which is the only such program in the metro region approved by the national council of academic programs in nonprofit studies. It also offers applied research, professional training, consulting, and assessment services for individual managers and leaders, as well as nonprofit organizations. NPM&L has received major national grant funding, been cited in the Nonprofit Times and other publications and received national and international awards. |

The mission of the Regional Arts Commission (RAC) is to promote, encourage, and foster the arts in the St. Louis region. RAC is the pivotal force in the continuing development and marketing of the arts in the St. Louis region. In addition to its grants program, RAC sponsors the Arts Commandos, the Community Arts in Training Institute (CAT), seminar programs, a resource library, and special projects to increase visibility, build audiences for the arts, and employ artists. |

St. Louis Volunteer Lawyers and Accountants for the Arts (VLAA) provides free legal and accounting assistance to income-eligible individual artists and emerging arts organizations. VLAA also provides information about arts law and business matters through educational programming, operates a mediation service and supports the broader role of the arts in the community. |

From hunger to home ownership, the Community Council of St. Charles County supports community-based initiatives through community building, coordination of services and linking the nonprofit, public & private sectors. The mission of the Council is to improve the quality of life in our community through the enhancement of the human service system and its agencies through broad-based participation by interested persons and organizations. In 1954, the Community Council of St. Charles County was created to serve as a clearinghouse for the health and social welfare agencies within St. Charles County. It was a visionary plan for a semi-rural county! As growth changes the needs of the area the Community Council helps address the unmet needs of the community. Today’s focus is affordable housing, homelessness, hunger, and volunteerism. |
