4. Who should attend the BoardLinkStL Ready To Recruit workshop from my organization?
At BoardLinkStL, we believe board development is vital to the long-term growth and sustainability of an organization. We expect the participation of the top leadership of an organization to ensure that the board and staff are both committed to this process. The Executive Director, the Board Chair (chief volunteer), and at least one other board member are required to attend the Readiness workshop. Additional board members and staff are welcome to attend. BoardLinkStL is committed to your success and will offer services and coaching to insure that your profile reflects the most complete information about your organization.
5. How does the matching program work?
There are four parts to the matching process:
Readiness To Recruit Workshop: Attend a workshop where you will receive the latest in board and leadership education and assistance creating your profile (The sliding scale fee can be paid online or at the time of the workshop)
Create Your Online Profile: BoardLinkStL will match your profile with the criteria described by individuals. One user name and password is chosen by the organization.
Online Access: Your profile is activated after attending a Readiness workshop and paying the fee. Once activated, you can begin to match your organization's interests with our prospects.
Making Contact: BoardLinkStL will identify individuals matching your interests. You can then view the individual's profile (without a name). BoardLinkStL will connect you to the individual by email. If the match looks right, an exploratory phone call and then in-person meeting should follow. You are under no obligation to offer a position to this individual during the exploratory phase. Since the organization's profile is visible to anyone looking at BoardLInkStL, the organization may be contacted by a person seeking a board position. As with organizations, the system will only connect you to those individuals who have attended a Readiness to Serve Workshop. The screening process is the role of the board and individual. BoardLinkStL does not guarantee that you will find a match. If the service does not provide you with the profile information you need or does not result in any contacts from individuals, we will do our best to assist you in the process.
6. How long will it take for a match?
The recruitment process is highly individualized, according to the board timeline, the individual's availability, and the time both parties need to make a decision. The nonprofit organizations that follow through in a timely manner are the ones that will be successful in the recruitment process. If an organization does not make a match during the year (the fee pays for one-year access to the site), we will continue to work with the organization, but we cannot guarantee a match.
7. What type of individuals will we meet?
Our recruitment process emphasizes bringing individuals from all walks of life. It is also important to us that interested individuals have a passion for a particular cause or a desire to provide leadership to a nonprofit organization serving our community.
8. Can I recruit for committee on BoardLinkStL?
Yes, on the profile you can indicate the specific position(s) available for your organization. You can create multiple board or committee positions.
9. When is the next Readiness to Recruit Workshop?
The workshops are currently scheduled each month either in the morning or evening. See the calendar for upcoming sessions.
